EAA Chapter 242 will Be Flying Young Eagles

Columbia-Owens Airport

July 12th, 2008

'OSHKOSH OR BUST'

EAA 242 has an offer by Buddy Young of Capital tours to take a private tour bus to Oshkosh. It is estimated that the cost would be approximately $105-$200. This does not include the room at Oshkosh which must be arranged separately.

The bus cost would actually be a function of the number of persons signing on, and, therefore, could end up being a bit more or less. This inquiry is to assess the possible interest.

Ken Harrill, Our Technical Advisor, has completed a Excel spreadsheet with the listing of all the technical publications in our library. There are some very helpful books on this list, but they are very specific to someone's needs. Any member can check out any publication through Ken. If you have MS-Excel on your PC you can open the spreadsheet of download. If you don't, you can download and install the MS-Excel Viewer program and see the spreadsheet.

Anti-Scud Running Web Site Launched

Well, there's a Web site for just about everything these days and ClearanceWiki.com is aimed at the growing frustration of GA pilots in obtaining IFR clearances. The free service, announced last week, offers pilots airport-specific guidance on expeditiously obtaining IFR clearances while they're safely on the ground.

Here's A Great New Web Site. Check It Out!

NEED AWOS? JUST CALL ON YOUR CELLPHONE
In a nifty new service for pilots, a quick toll-free phone call can now connect you to any AWOS in the U.S. After dialing the toll-free number (877-any-AWOS, or 877-269-2967), callers can enter any three-digit airport ID and -- after choosing from a list of possible matches, and listening to a word from their sponsors -- they will be connected to that airport's AWOS or ATIS.
