The Young Eagles program is designed to expose young people, ages 8 to 17, to General Aviation. We do this by providing free rides in aircraft flown by experienced Chapter 242 members. By March of 1998, Chapter 242 members had flown over 1760 Young Eagles. While individual members fly throughout the year most of the flying activity takes place during Young Eagles Rallies, where groups of kids come to get their first airplane ride. Most Young Eagle flights depart from the Columbia Owens Downtown Airport. (CUB)
