George and Lucy's Thunder Mustang, one day!
We spent all of last week working on the engine of our Thunder Mustang. We had to replace the front crank shaft seal because the grooves in the seal scraped the oil out of the crank case instead of in (the engine turns backwards in order for the prop to turn the correct way). We put the 2.8:1 gear reduction box on and then found out the fly wheel was binding. George has to do some work on that. We had a lot of trouble getting the bolts in the last lord mount bracket, but now have the engine is mounted on its mount. Ray Ackerman made the engine stand for us. We installed the starter, the alternator, the hydraulic fuel pump, and the water pump.

P.S. That guy in his own P-51, is our grandson
