Finally! My center section is horizontal, and I'm starting on the fuselage! I have the Sta 73 & Sta 99 bulkheads in place, along with the top stringers. You will notice, in the picture the Cessna 150 seats are in place for fun. They will be removed and stored as construction continues to allow more working room. This just happens to be a great place to store them for the moment! Plus, it helps visitors visualize a completed cockpit.
Note the center section is held level in a wood framework. The framework extends for and aft for alignment of the firewall and tailcone. Yes my garage is that crowded! All of the steel components are powder coated from Mustang aero. They have been great to deal with so far. I now have in my possession the center section, fuselage kit, empennage kit, landing gear, wheels and brakes. My next order will be for the canopy, and wings. I plan to order the quick build wings, which are essentially ready to install. The wait period for them to be completed is quite long, so I plan to order well in advance!
My next days in the shop will be spent finish drilling the side skin to the stringers, and bulkheads, then do the same for the right skin. Once done, I can accurately mark the trim lines, and disassemble for final trimming of the side skins. All skins will be riveted with AN426 flush rivets. This requires that skin be dimpled, and structure either dimpled or countersunk. Now that I can finally see an airplane taking shape, I'm getting excited!
